The police of EGG Harbor Township announce charges in Brawl at Veterans Memorial Invitational Tournament
Egg Harbor TWP., NJ (WPVI) – Three people are confronted with charges after a fight broke out during a youth hockey tournament in South Jersey.
It happened on Saturday during the Veterans Memorial Invitational Tournament in Egg Harbor Township.
Video that is now being investigated by the police of Egg Harbor Township shows a total fight.
“What the videos showed and what we thought was that the children had received a fight on the field, which led to some coaches coming on the field, as well as some parents who also came to the field,” Sgt said. Ben Kollman with the police of Egg Harbor Township.
On Wednesday, the police confirmed that three people were accused of abuse and disorderly behavior. The individuals have been identified as Colleen Biddle, 41, from Philadelphia, Robert Schafer, 38, Van Maple Shade, NJ, and Justin Pacheco, 38, from Philadelphia.
Two teams that attended the tournament – Maple Shade Cadet A and Philadelphia Frenzy Cadet A – Each explained statements that they accept all disciplinary actions of the American Ball Hockey Alliance, including suspension of the tournament.
The Alliance has also released a long -term explanation, some of which says: “We want to emphasize that this kind of behavior is not representative of normal street/deck hockey game and violence is never approved in our sport.”
The president of the EGG Harbor Township Street Hockey Association, which organizes the tournament, emphasized that none of his players was involved in the incident and that the behavior will not be tolerated in future tournaments.
