Former Hawkeye, longtime coach joins Iowa football staff
IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) – Tom Moore, a former Hawkeye and longtime coach, will join Kirk Ferentz’s football staff.
The longtime coach who has been involved with the sport for more than 60 years is returning to the Hawkeyes. Moore will serve as a senior advisor to the head coach and offensive advisor.
“I have known Tom Moore for more than a decade and am thrilled that he has agreed to an advisory role with our program,” said Ferentz. “Coach Moore has had a long and very successful football career. He was a player at Iowa, coached at the collegiate level and worked with Hall of Fame coaches in the National Football League for many years. I am grateful that a four-time Super Bowl champion will share his wisdom and perspectives with us coaches and players.”
He lettered for the Hawkeyes in 1959 and 1960 as a quarterback and place-kicker. He spent the next two years serving as a graduate assistant coach with the Hawkeyes before serving in the Army, where he also coached football.
He coached at the college level at Dayton, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech and Minnesota. He has won four Super Bowls: two in Pittsburgh, one in Indianapolis and one in Tampa Bay.
