ScaleUp Bio Opens Two Precision Fermentation Facilities for Global Startups – vegconomist

Recently launched Singapore solutions provider ScaleUp Bio has announced the opening of two dedicated precision fermentation facilities for global food tech start-ups.

According to ScaleUp, there are very few food-grade labs available, most catering to the pharmaceutical or biofuel industries. Opening a pilot plant is financially out of reach for many start-ups, so facilities such as ScaleUp may offer a solution.

About facilities

The first facility is a laboratory developed in collaboration with the Singapore Agency for Science, Technology and Research. Supports up to 100 liters of fermentation and processing capacity with testing and optimization capabilities. The facility will be located at the Nourasus Food Tech Innovation Center in the heart of Singapore.

The second facility offers access to a huge fermentation capacity of 10,000 liters and 2,300 square meters of space. Located at his LOGOS Food21 in West Singapore, it also serves as ScaleUp’s headquarters.

ScaleUp Bio was founded earlier this year by Archer-Daniels-Midland in collaboration with Asia Sustainable Foods Platform. In addition to physical lab space, the company offers startups business opportunities such as access to resources from industry experts, partner organizations, and ScaleUp’s parent company.
