OnePlus Nord N10, N100 get only one major update

OnePlus has always been known as a company that offers high-end experiences at a lower cost, and the same basic idea applies to its new Nord budget phone. However, the most affordable OnePlus Nord devices, the N105G and N100, have a one-time lifespan update.

OnePlus confirmed the news by talking to Android Central, stating that the Nord N105G and Nord N100 are only guaranteed a single major Android update. It’s shocking, to say the least. Especially considering the policies that OnePlus holds for the rest of the lineup.

To make matters worse, both the OnePlus Nord N105G and N100 are shipped with Android 10. This means that in one major update, these phones will only be available on Android 11, the OS already pre-installed on the OnePlus 8T released prior to the latest Nords. ..

The Nord N10 5G and N100 will receive one major Android update and a total of two years of security updates. The plans for these two devices comply with industry standards for more affordable smartphones. As always, we listen to user feedback and continue to look for ways to improve the software experience on all OnePlus devices.

Beyond the Android 11 update, OnePlus performs minimal functionality when it comes to security updates. They get two years of security updates, but there is no mention of how often those updates arrive. I don’t bet very often.
