Health officials: King County’s Omicron case not linked to travel

KING COUNTY, Washington – The first person known to have been infected with the COVID-19 omicron variant in King County has not reported any recent travel, the King County Health Agency says.

Public Health Seattle and King County said in a blog post on Wednesday, December 8 that the fact that the person had not traveled indicates that the variant was spreading locally.

The case was identified in a woman in her twenties who was fully vaccinated and had mild disease.

Two more cases were identified in Thurston and Pierce counties.

Health Minister Dr. Umair Shah is again urging people to get vaccinated and get booster doses to further protect them from all variables.
