The US Geological Survey said a 3.6-magnitude earthquake shook the Gulf region on Saturday morning.
The USGS detected the earthquake on the San Andreas Fault at 9:59 a.m., with its epicenter about two and a half miles northeast of Coralitos, an unincorporated community in Santa Cruz County, north of Watsonville. Residents throughout the area reported feeling the quake, but it shook strongly in the South Bay.
After assessing the damage, Cal Fire CZU, which serves the San Mateo and Santa Cruz areas, reported no damage until about 11 a.m., and Cal Fire SCU, which serves Santa Clara County, reported no damage late in the morning.
The earthquake’s origin was just over eight miles underground, according to the US Geological Survey, making it a shallow earthquake by the agency’s definition. Shallow earthquakes tend to feel stronger and cause more damage, according to the agency.
A smaller earthquake shook the East Bay a little over a week ago. And almost 65 years ago, the “forgotten” earthquake of 1957 shook the city of Daly and the northern peninsula – one of the most powerful in the Bay Area between 1906 and 1989.

Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price.
