ANP demands instant polls – Journal

CHARSADDA: Accusing ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf of failing to deliver the goods, National Awami Party Secretary General Mian Iftikhar Hussain demanded snap polls in the country.

He also called on the military establishment not to interfere in the electoral process and to respect the mandate of the peoples.

It is time to get rid of the incompetent and selected government and hold fresh and transparent elections in the country as the ruling PTI has miserably failed to deliver and lost the moral justification to stay in power, said the head of the ANP to reporters after visiting the party house. Activist and artist Jehangir Adil here on Friday to admit his death. Mr Hussain said the population was suffering from escalating prices, growing unemployment and lawlessness due to flawed government policies.

People are fed up with the government and want new elections in the country for their relief and development, he said.

The leader of the ANP said that an elected government with the mandate of the people was the only hope of the people in the current crises.

He said the National Accountability Office had lost its credibility after its harsh criticism from the Supreme Court.

The ruling PTI uses the NAB against political opponents. The NAB makes false references and corruption cases against leaders of opposition parties, but remains silent on government corruption in BRT, reforestation and Malam Jabba projects, he said.

The ANP chief said the oil, sugar and wheat mafias had surrounded Prime Minister Imran Khan.

He said a commission of inquiry found Jehangir Tareen guilty of the sugar crisis, but the prime minister sent him abroad with a protocol to save him from responsibility.

Mr Hussain said that before coming to power Imran Khan was a facilitator of terrorists and after becoming prime minister he became a friend of terrorists, he wondered how the government could forgive the former TTP spokesman Ihsanullah Ihsan, who was the killer of army public school students, 1,000 ANP leaders and workers, and his only son.

Mr Hussain criticized the government for introducing a presidential ordinance to relieve Indian agent Kalbushan Jhadav and said the government should legislate on the matter.

He said the ANP would not let the government bulldoze parliament. The ANP chief said those who advocated proposed amendments to the 18th Constitutional Amendment wanted to break up the country.

He said the 18th Constitutional Amendment guaranteed a strong and united federation.

Mr. Iftikhar paid tribute to the late Jehangir Adil for his services to the party.
