Authorities confirmed that Mirpur AJK and its environs were subjected to repeated seismic tremors of mild intensity twice in just 14 hours up to the early hours of Friday, leaving the entire area in a state of severe panic and an uncertain situation.

Mirpur city and its environs were hit by a 4.4-magnitude earthquake at about 01.23 on Friday morning and lasted about 5 seconds. The epicenter of this disaster was 30 km north of Jhelum district in Pakistan, with a depth of 10 km.

Earlier, a moderately severe earthquake measuring 4.0 magnitude on the richest scale struck the city around 11.20 am Thursday, causing severe panic in the city and its suburbs.

The tremors lasted for 3 seconds. The epicenter was at a depth of 10 km near Dina (15 km northeast of Jhelum district in Pakistan).
