The Greek Civil Protection Agency has declared a state of emergency in Kefalonia, Ithaca and Zakynthos.

Kefalonia Mayor Theophilos Michelatos said no one was hurt, but that homes, roads and water facilities were damaged. The effect was similar in Zakynthos and Ithaca, where blackouts were also significant.

The storm, dubbed Ianos, is expected to hit central Greece before reaching the wider Athens region on Saturday.

Atwi was thirty-three years old. Atwi has been in intensive care since the shooting, on August 21. The origin of the bullet has not been determined. The case shocked Lebanon, where shooting in the air was a common occurrence at weddings, funerals or when political leaders give speeches. After Atwi was shot, many Lebanese called for strict measures to be taken against the practice. Several people have been killed by stray bullets in Lebanon in recent years.
