Italy recorded another 756 deaths in the last day. It brought the total to 11,000, which is anywhere in the world.

But the second drop was also significant in the daily number of recorded deaths.

In terms of context, there were 889 on Saturday and more than 900 on Friday.

More broadly, the number of positive results for the virus in Italy increased to 97,689 on Sunday from 92,472.

That is the lowest daily increase in new cases since Wednesday.

At least 13,030 people have been recovered from the virus, authorities said.
