Malaysia will swear in the world & # 39; BBC News
Mahathir Mohamad will become the oldest elected candidate in the world at the age of 92 after a grueling victory in the Malaysian elections.
It will be sworn in at 9:30 pm local time (1:30 pm GMT), the Bernama state news agency reported.
Former prime minister stepped down from the withdrawals and went to the opposition to temporarily back Najib Raza to protect himself.
His historic victory has taken away the Barisan Nasional (BN) coalition, which has been in power since independence in 1957.
Jubilant Mahathir’s supporters filled the streets as the victory cleared.
Najib has said he will accept the “people’s judgment”, but correspondents say there is no smooth transition to power after so much political turmoil.
