A 2.7-magnitude earthquake was reported in the evening near Reading, Shasta County, California, USA, according to the US Geological Survey, the earthquake struck on Saturday 13 March 2021 at 9:57 PM local time at a very shallow depth of 1.1 miles. Shallow earthquakes are felt more strongly than deep ones because they are closer to the surface. The magnitude and other earthquake parameters could still change in the coming hours as the agency continues to process seismic data.
