Official numbers say more than 40,000 deaths from UK coronavirus | World News
According to official statistics, more than 40,000 people have died from Covid-19 in the UK, and about 10,000 nursing home residents are currently dying of coronavirus.

Adding the latest figures for Scotland and Northern Ireland and the latest daily deaths announced by the government in the NHS settings, the UK’s official death toll totals 40,011.
This figure makes Britain one of the most affected countries in Europe. Data collected by Johns Hopkins University (JHU) show 30,739 deaths in Italy, 26,744 in Spain and 26,604 in France. Germany recorded 7,661 deaths.
The number of deaths announced by JHU does not always include the number of deaths in nursing homes and private housing.
But mortality is declining, and for the first time since the pandemic took root in all parts of England. Wales ONS figures show that the death toll of the general population has been recorded.
Also, for the first time, London, the center of the worst outbreaks, was recorded in the southeast, not the highest. The capital has recorded the sharpest decline in Covid-19 mortality in all parts of England and Wales.
In the second week, Covid-19, a known or suspected dead in a UK nursing home, died. While total deaths increased to 8,314, weekly deaths fell to 1,503, down from 2,379 in the week to 24 April. An additional 350 people died in nursing homes in Wales and 1,201 in nursing homes in Scotland. Scotland – Virus kills 10,949 people in UK nursing homes.
