Utah counts increase in the case of COVID-19

In Utah, the number of new coronavirus cases surged during the week ending Sunday, with 1,197 reported, an increase of 61.8%. Last week there were 740 new cases of the virus that causes COVID-19.
Utah ranks 35th among the fastest-spreading states of the coronavirus per capita, according to USA TODAY network analysis of Johns Hopkins University data. Last week, cases of coronavirus in the United States increased by 57.1% from the previous week, and 351,599 cases were reported. With 0.96% of the country’s population, Utah had 0.34% of the country’s case last week. Nationwide, 42 states had more cases in the most recent week than in the previous week.
Within Utah, the worst weekly outbreak per capita was Summit County, with 97 per 100,000 per week. 50 Salt Lake County. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, high-level community infections start at 100 per 100,000 people per week.
Overall, the newest case was added in Salt Lake County, with 583 cases. Utah County, 186 cases. Davis County was 139. Weekly cases increased in five counties from the previous week. The worst increases from the pace last week were in the Salt Lake, Utah and Davis counties.

Utah ranks 28th in the state, with at least one vaccination, and 72% of its population is at least partially vaccinated. The national percentage is 77.5%, as shown by USA TODAY analysis of CDC data. The most used Pfizer and Moderna vaccines in the United States should be given twice at intervals of several weeks.
In the week ending Sunday, Utah reported an additional 10,965 vaccinations, including a first dose of 1,581. Last week, the state received 16,743 vaccinations, including 2,774 initial doses. In total, Utah reported that it administered a total dose of 5,185,324 times.
In Utah, four people were reported dead from COVID-19 during the week ending Sunday. The week before, six people were reported dead.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, a total of 930,558 people have been coronavirus-positive and 4,740 have died from the disease in Utah, according to data from Johns Hopkins University. In the United States, 80,984,914 are positive and 991,254 have died.

Utah COVID-19 hospitalization increased

Hospitals in 37 states reported more COVID-19 patients than they did a week ago, while hospitals in 25 states had more COVID-19 patients in the intensive care unit. Hospitals in 42 states received more COVID-19 patients in the week more recent than last week, a USA TODAY analysis of US health and welfare data shows.
