St. Louis pediatrician sees rise in unusual respiratory viruses
Pediatricians say the number of respiratory syncytial virus cases they are seeing is not typical for this time of year.

“Our emergency department is definitely seeing more patients than we normally see in October,” Dr. Condis said.
In 2020, she said, there weren’t many cases of RSV because of COVID-19.
“In the spring of 2021, the RSV epidemic started to resume in earnest, but this was very different than before, so I don’t think we’re back to normal yet,” she said. I was.
For parents of newborns or children with risk factors, the best precaution is to stay home, says Dr. Condis.
“We know we have a very big RSV season right now, so we’re just keeping them out of the crowd,” she said.

“I’m afraid we’ll see more cases, but if we need to see more cases, we’re ready.
Both pediatricians say that RSV in most children is not too bad.
