People living in nursing homes in the UK will soon be allowed their loved ones to visit their homes as long as the facilities are Covid-protected, Health Secretary told ITV News.
Matt Hancock acknowledged, “People are eager to see their loved ones,” and said the announcement will take place in the “next few days,” stating how a safe visit can occur. ..
Hancock told ITV News political correspondent Paul Brand, “Details will be announced shortly, but I think that people in love with them will love them and that caregivers will get more from their visitors,” he said. ..
“This is a very long period, there were no visits to nursing homes, and it will soon end.”
He hinted that indoor visits may be permitted as early as next week: “I’m very hoping we can make this change in the next few days.” He said it is important for the minister to “get it right” to avoid spreading infections in nursing homes.
“I need to make sure it works in each region, but I hope we can make that change soon.”

ITV News political correspondent Paul Brand explains that full details of the care home visit will be announced “soon” by Director General Matt Hancock.
The Secretary of Health also dropped the big hint that salary increases are approaching the horizon of social care staff.
He pointed to a previous salary increase he voted for the social care sector doing “incredibly important work,” and said he was “proud” of what was done.
“I can’t make a financial statement so far, but you’ll know where my heart is,” he told Paul Brand.
“This is a very important and valuable job and I am really proud that the increase in living wages we have introduced has had a greater impact on the care sector than any other sector.”
Hancock said to people working in social care about Boris Johnson’s comments, which, despite providing good news to the sector, seems to be blaming the industry for many cases of coronaviruses. I don’t apologize.
Johnson told reporters that “too many” nursing homes did not follow proper procedures during the coronavirus pandemic.
Debbie Adams, a nursing home boss, told ITV News that he was “absolutely tired” when he said he would like to apologize after hearing his comments.
Secretary of Health declined when asked if he would take care of the home manager without worrying about Mr Johnson’s comments.
Boris Johnson, the boss of the nursing home, is called a “joke”
Instead, he sought to clarify the Prime Minister’s comments and said he had no intention of blaming the nursing home.
He also added: “We can also say how much we value their work and do everything they do to keep people safe.”
In a broad interview that can be fully viewed on Youtube, the Secretary of Health doesn’t say the second peak of the coronavirus is inevitable, but many believe it is due to recent lockdown mitigation. Nevertheless.
He said: “Well I hope it doesn’t.
“People talk as if the second wave was inevitable.
“We see spikes in Australia. They thought they would get rid of it more or less, so there were spikes and they blocked Melbourne.”
He admitted that “the most difficult time is in winter.” Because people are more indoors, “second, there is evidence that the virus can spread more easily in cold environments, and there is no doubt that it is a challenge.
“But that is not inevitable as long as people follow social distance guidelines.”
He has so far seen the “darkest” moments of the crisis after the blockade was imposed, but when both he and the prime minister had the coronavirus, no change in infection or death levels was seen. He said.
