45 new cases reported, fewer active cases and hospitalizations | Local
The South Dakota Department of Health conducted 1,002 tests against a Sunday morning report and reported 45 new cases of coronavirus. The number of active cases in the state has dropped from 7 to 868.
Two statistics were promising. No new deaths have been reported, and the number of hospitalizations for COVID-19 disease has dropped from 12 to 53. Twenty of those patients participate in the monumental health care system.
The total number of positive tests in South Dakota is currently 7,499.
Pennington County took 75 tests Saturday for a report on Sunday. The county reported five new cases, a total of 635 cases, 140 active cases, down 6 from Saturday.
Oglarara Kota County reported three new cases in 10 tests on Sunday. There are 31 active cases. No new cases have been reported in the Mead, Lawrence, Custer, Fall River, and Butte counties. There were a total of 58 tests for those counties. There are one active case in Custer and Lawrence counties, three active cases in Fall River and Butte counties, and eight cases in Meade county still considered active infections.
In Lincoln County, Sunday had the highest number of six, followed by Minehaja County with five. Two new cases were reported in the counties of Beadle, Brown, Dewey, Hutchinson, Kingsbury and Spink. The Bon Hom, Brookings, Bruhl, Buffalo, Davison, Grant, Hughes, Jackson, McCook, McPherson, Roberts, Todd, Union, and Yankton counties added one new case on Sunday.
