New measles case confirmed in Montreal
Montreal Public Health announced Sunday that a new measles case has been confirmed in the city.
Authorities say an unvaccinated adult infected another adult at a location in suburban Montreal.
“According to available information, these two cases are part of a measles transmission chain started by imported cases from foreign countries that attended the NATO Congress. Montreal Convention Center Last November,” he wrote.
A “significant number” of Montreal facilities may have been exposed to measles cases, including:
- Herzl Clinic (5790, Chemin de la Côte-des-Neiges), January. 1. From approximately 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm
- Jewish General Hospital (Pavilion D, 1st floor, Microbial Infectious Diseases Outpatient Waiting Room, Office B-010) January 1st around 5:15pm and 8pm
- Bleu & Persille (1475, Mont-Royal Avenue East) January 3, approximately 2:00 to 4:30 p.m.
- Boulangerie Le Toledo (351, Mont-Royal Avenue East) January 3 at approximately 2:30 and 5 p.m.
- Fairmount Bagels (74, Fairmount Avenue West) Jan. 3, approximately 3 to 5:30 p.m.
- January Poissonnerie Falero (5726A du Parc Avenue) 3, around 3:30pm and 6pm
In December, Montreal Public Health reported that hundreds of people were exposed to measles during and after NATO meetings held in the city between November 23 and November 26. One participant was diagnosed with measles after returning home and may have contracted the disease while in Montreal.

Symptoms of measles include high fever, cough, runny nose, red eyes, and general fatigue, followed by redness of the face and body.
