Bucks County resident tests are positive for measles, officials warn of possible exposure at Starbucks

Bucks County health officials say residents who tested positive for measles visited the local Starbucks while it was likely contagious.
Philadelphia – Bucks County health officials are warning the public about potential exposure to measles after testing the resident as positive.
Officials say the person's symptoms are mild and recently traveled to the US area. It is affected by the outbreak.
Officials are warning residents who may have visited certain Starbucks in the county to monitor their symptoms.
What we know:
The Bucks County Health Department announced Thursday that a recently travelled to Texas vaccinated adult resident tested positive for measles.
This person traveled to several locations in the area last week and could be contagious.
They monitored symptoms, particularly cough, runny nose and red eyes, on March 19th, from 10:50am to 12:30pm at Starbucks at 2896 S. Eagle Road in Newtown.
Other symptoms to monitor include headaches, sneezing, and rashes on the red skin that begin on the face and neck.
Health officials say infected individuals are generally beginning to experience symptoms during their 10-14 days of exposure.
What they are saying:
In a statement released Thursday, authorities spoke about the efficiency of the measles vaccine, explaining that while vaccinated individuals still may get sick, their cases tend to be milder.
“Two doses of vaccines are 97% effective at preventing all diseases. However, while those who have been vaccinated can still develop measles, they are more likely to experience mild illnesses and are less likely to spread it.” “The best way to control this virus is to have a high level of community vaccination.”
What's next:
The Health Department says they will be contacted when they track down all other locations the individual is known to have traveled and notify potentially exposed people.
If you believe you are exposed to measles and you are planning to seek medical treatment, the health department will encourage you to reach out to the medical facility you plan to visit and advise them of that belief so that they are ready for your arrival.
