Colorado data show the outbreak of three new COVID-19s in Boulder County – Longmont Times-Cole

Data updated Wednesday by the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment show the outbreak of three new coronaviruses in Boulder County, including the one determined at Lafayette’s Boulder Valley School District Transport Terminal on Tuesday. The data show that two staff members tested positive.

Also on Wednesday, Boulder County Public Health reported 17 new cases of the virus, with no new deaths. Meanwhile, CU Boulder reported eight new positive tests on its online dashboard.

BVSD spokesman Randy Barber said eight staff members were put into quarantine after a confirmed case was reported at the terminal.

“Affected individuals will be kept at home for 14 days as a precautionary measure. Quarantine has not affected student bus services,” Barber wrote in an email.

An outbreak was also confirmed on Tuesday at Starbucks at 3033 Arapahoe Ave., with two staff members positive.

An outbreak was confirmed on Tuesday at Wild Basin Lodge in Allens Park, with three staff members positive and one believed to be possible.

Wild Basin Lodge representatives were unable to request comments by phone or email by the deadline.

The outbreak at the University of Colorado at Boulder, determined on September 23, showed 1,527 participants or students 24 more positives than last week. In addition, it is likely that there will be 168 participants, seven more than last week. 16 staff members, 4 more than last week, tested positive.

Data show continued vigorous outbreaks at Elva Martinez Housecleaning, Boulder Nursing Home Mesa Vista, Louisville Solar Screen Maker Insolroll, and Longmont Car Dealer Valley Nissan.

The 17 new cases reported by the county total 4,717. Of these, 213 were hospitalized and 80 died. There are 216 ongoing disease investigations.

The five-day average for Wednesday’s new daily case is 16.2. A week ago, the average for 5 days was 48.4. The data show that this is a minimum 5-day average of new daily cases since September 2.

CU Boulder’s eight additional cases continue with October’s consecutive single-digit cases, or there are no new daily cases. The campus conducted 142 diagnostic tests and 916 surveillance tests on Tuesday, using 26 campus isolation spaces.

University officials have confirmed that the dashboard contains information gathered from front-line employee monitoring tests launched on September 22nd.

University of Colorado Boulder officials on Wednesday Face-to-face lessons will resume next week.

There were 74,922 positive or possible cases across the state. Of the cases, 2,085 died, of which 1,990 died from the coronavirus. The number of hospitalized people is 7,771. Of Colorado’s approximately 5.7 million population, 974,863 are tested for the virus.
