Cases highest in northwest, northeast, Yorkshire and the Humber
According to data from the Office for National Statistics, the number of cases of coronavirus in the United Kingdom is “rapidly increasing”, affecting 1 in 240 people.
Data from the Covid Symptom Study app also show an increase in UK cases, but at a slower pace than in early September.
This number comes when the UK Government is working on how to introduce new restrictions.
Scientific advisers warn that hospitalization is “very close” to early March levels.
Ministers have stated that the case is “out of control.”
By October 1, ONS estimates that 17,200 people are infected in British homes per day, with the highest rates in the northeast, northwest, and Yorkshire and the Humber.
The organization estimates that 1 in 500 people is infected in Wales and Northern Ireland.
The Covid Symptom Study app (using data from 4 million people and 12,000 swab tests) estimates that 21,903 people develop Covid symptoms daily across the UK.
That’s 1,000 a day over a week ago.
“We haven’t left the forest yet, especially as hospitalizations are starting to increase, and we expect this to continue for the next two weeks,” said Professor Tim Specter, who led the analysis at King’s College London. ..
Increasing numbers of cases and hospitalizations are of concern. The new rules will be announced on Monday and will come into effect on Wednesday.
The exact details are still under discussion, but may include closures of pubs and restaurants and bans on accommodation in some areas.
The data presented to the MP by Professor Chris Whitti, Chief Medical Officer of the United Kingdom, seems to be igniting the hospitality sector as parts of society, such as schools and universities, remain open.
