Nearly 300 new local Covid cases were reported in 24 hours as hospitalizations surged
Nearly 300 new cases of coronavirus have been reported as hospital trust has been forced to declare a “serious incident.”
Grimsby Hospital and Scunthorpe Hospital are overwhelmed by the presence of more than 100 patients in between, and the case rate remains very worrisome.
The new case showed no signs of slowing down as additional nursing staff were called in to deal with the crisis yesterday.
The status of major incidents is currently suspended.
On Sunday, the fourth day of the latest national blockade, 167 new cases were reported in northeastern Lincolnshire.
That’s a total of 3244 so far, ending one of the worst weeks in the region so far.
In North Lincolnshire, a slightly lower percentage of 103 new cases totaled 2914.
Northern Lincolnshire and the Ghoul NHS Foundation Trust have declared a major incident yesterday.
The Trust has 12 patients in the Grimsby and Scunthorpe ICUs and is treating more than 100 patients at a time for the first time.

Dr. Katewood, Medical Director of the Northern Lincolnshire and Ghoul NHS Foundation Trust, said:
“In line with a trial-and-error plan, some of the patients who usually come to us have been taken care of by nearby hospitals while we work to develop additional abilities.

The case rate in northeastern Lincolnshire is currently 584 per 100,000, the fourth worst in the country after Hull, Blackburn and Oldham.
According to NHS data, there were 933 cases in the week leading up to November 5.
The case rate in North Lincolnshire is also above the national average, at 296 per 100,000.
There were 511 cases during the same period.
