The 3D protein model shows why cats and cows are more likely to be infected with COVID-19 than chickens and pigs.
The coronavirus has already affected millions of people around the world, killing about 1.5 million COVID-19 patients. Although there have been numerous reports of virus-infected animals, new 3D protein models show that not all organisms become ill.
At the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, previous studies suggest that the health crisis began when the SARS-CoV-2 virus, which causes COVID-19, was transferred from the pangolins or bats to humans. Apart from these creatures, other animals such as cats and cows appear to be more susceptible to the virus than other animals such as chickens and pigs. The cause of such discrepancies is still unknown.

3D protein models suggest why some animals are immune to COVID-19
by Phys.orgA new study by researchers at Stanford University in California claims that some creatures are more immune to COVID-19 and others are more susceptible to infection than other animals. João Rodrigues and his colleagues Announced their findings PLOS Computational Biology, an open access journal.
Researchers have developed a 3D structural model that shows how the receptor-binding domain of SARS-CoV-2 interacts with the human ACE2 receptor. This indicates that amino acids essential for human-viral interactions are present only in animal species susceptible to COVID-19 infection.
Rodriguez and his colleagues sought clues as to how infection begins: when SARS-CoV-2 protein spikes bind to ACE2 protein receptors on the surface of anima cells. Researchers used computer simulations to show the 3D structure of the protein and analyze how the spiked protein interacts with ACE2 receptors in a variety of animals.

3D protein models suggest why some animals are immune to COVID-19
Rodriguez and his team have discovered that ACE2 in certain animals locks better against the virus. This makes them as vulnerable to COVID-19 infections as humans. These are just estimates, but the simulations conducted by the researchers were able to identify specific structural features specific to sensitive species of ACE2 receptors. In contrast, other species appear immune due to the lack of these functions at the ACE2 receptor, weakening the interaction of spike proteins.
Future enhancements to 3D protein models
Rodrigues and his team continue to improve the tools used to compute this study, but their findings indicate that scientists and health officials trap the virus and interact with human ACE2 protein receptors. It may be useful in developing antiviral strategies using artificial “locks” to avoid.

Rodriguez said the model could be strengthened to further monitor animals carrying viruses that could infect humans and “eventually prevent future outbreaks.” He also thanked preprints, open access data, and free academic software.
“I was wondering if a tiger could be infected with COVID-19, and in just a few weeks I got a 3D model of the protein structure that could explain why,” Rodriguez said. ..
Denmark has eliminated millions of COVID-19-infected minks
Back in November TechTimes reported About the Danish government’s plan to eliminate all 17 million minks in the country as mutated coronavirus strains were found in these pretty creatures.
At a news conference, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen announced a decision to prioritize responsibility over citizens and other countries to ensure that mink transmission to humans is prevented. Denmark has the largest mink fur industry in the world.

What Are The Main Benefits Of Comparing Car Insurance Quotes Online
LOS ANGELES, CA / ACCESSWIRE / June 24, 2020, / Compare-autoinsurance.Org has launched a new blog post that presents the main benefits of comparing multiple car insurance quotes. For more info and free online quotes, please visit https://compare-autoinsurance.Org/the-advantages-of-comparing-prices-with-car-insurance-quotes-online/ The modern society has numerous technological advantages. One important advantage is the speed at which information is sent and received. With the help of the internet, the shopping habits of many persons have drastically changed. The car insurance industry hasn't remained untouched by these changes. On the internet, drivers can compare insurance prices and find out which sellers have the best offers. View photos The advantages of comparing online car insurance quotes are the following: Online quotes can be obtained from anywhere and at any time. Unlike physical insurance agencies, websites don't have a specific schedule and they are available at any time. Drivers that have busy working schedules, can compare quotes from anywhere and at any time, even at midnight. Multiple choices. Almost all insurance providers, no matter if they are well-known brands or just local insurers, have an online presence. Online quotes will allow policyholders the chance to discover multiple insurance companies and check their prices. Drivers are no longer required to get quotes from just a few known insurance companies. Also, local and regional insurers can provide lower insurance rates for the same services. Accurate insurance estimates. Online quotes can only be accurate if the customers provide accurate and real info about their car models and driving history. Lying about past driving incidents can make the price estimates to be lower, but when dealing with an insurance company lying to them is useless. Usually, insurance companies will do research about a potential customer before granting him coverage. Online quotes can be sorted easily. Although drivers are recommended to not choose a policy just based on its price, drivers can easily sort quotes by insurance price. Using brokerage websites will allow drivers to get quotes from multiple insurers, thus making the comparison faster and easier.
