Stanford University Develops New Antibody Test for COVID-19
Stamford, CA (KRON) — Stanford medical researchers have tested more than 3,000 people for antibodies to COVID-19.
A new test tests your immunity and indicates whether you have been exposed to the virus.
This is different from the swab test we used to reveal if we have COVID-19. This antibody test is a blood test that can show if people are immune to the virus and can return to work.
With just a finger prick, the test looks for antibodies to COVID-19 and can return results after 15 minutes.
Stanford medical researchers developed an antibody test, also called a serologic test, on Monday, and since then have taken blood samples from more than 3,200 people for research last week.

Rutherford, professor of epidemiology at UCSF, states that the test can show how the disease is spread throughout the population.

Health experts say seropositivity probably means that a person has recovered from the virus and cannot be reinfected.
