BioNTech CEO Ugur Sahin said the deadly virus will stay with us for at least the next decade as the world tackles a pandemic in the origin of a new potentially deadly strain. I’m saying
At a virtual press conference this week, Sahin talked about potential virus deadlines when asked when life could return to normal. “We need the usual new definition. The virus will stay with us for the next 10 years,” he told the media.
Developed in collaboration with US pharmaceutical giant Pfizer, BioNTech’s vaccine has been approved for use in more than 45 countries, including the United Kingdom and the United States. Sahin also said the vaccine could be adjusted to the new UK variant in about 6 weeks.
“In principle, the beauty of messenger technology is that we can directly start designing a vaccine that perfectly mimics this new mutation. We may be able to provide a technically new vaccine within 6 weeks.” He is reportedly mentioned in media reports. .. Sahin said he was confident that the new variant of the UK Covid-19 strain would not affect the effectiveness of the vaccine.
The new Covid species is causing concern around the world, including India, and it is not yet known what impact it could have. After the discovery of a second new variant of the new coronavirus in the UK, the UK has reported the highest number of Covid-19 deaths this week since late April.
Health Minister Matt Hancock said the second new variant was reported to be associated with travelers from South Africa, and two cases have been reported so far.
“We are very concerned because this new variant is more contagious and appears to be more mutated than the new variant found in the UK,” he said this week.
