Northern Ireland records an additional 9 Covid-19 deaths and 1,442 new cases

In Northern Ireland, another nine people have died from the coronavirus, the Ministry of Health confirmed.

Since the pandemic, the total number of deaths has reached 1,443.

An additional 1,442 viruses were identified on Saturday.

Since the pandemic began, there have been a total of 87,588 positive cases.

In Belfast, hospitals are in full operation, cancer surgery is being stopped during surgery, and there is serious pressure on medical services.

There were 674 Covid-19 infected people in a hospital in Northern Ireland on Saturday, including 47 in the ICU.

Currently, the hospital has 97% bed occupancy and 19 ICU beds are available.

The 7-day incidence in Northern Ireland is currently 600 per 100,000.

Newry, Morne and Down are the highest in the region with 858 per 100,000 population, followed by Mid Ulster at 798.5, Almer City, Banbridge and Craigavon at 794.2.

On Friday, there were blockade restrictions that prevented people from leaving their homes, unless they were essential in Northern Ireland.

As part of the measures agreed upon by Minister Stormont, police can order people to return home.

The stricter rules on movement will be in effect until February 6th, but will be reviewed later this month.
