COVID-19 News: “Hope is really infectious” surge in vaccination clinics in the York area
Georgia, Ontario. -Thousands of residents of the York region have been vaccinated with COVID vaccines at various clinics throughout the region this week.
Some inhabitants like Donald Norris have been waiting for this for months.
“That means I can visit my friends and family a year after I was trapped,” Norris said.
On Friday, 500 Pfizer vaccines were given to residents over the age of 80 at the Georgia Ice Palace.
Dr. Karim Kurzi, a health officer in the York area, said more than 84,000 doses were given, more than half of which were older than 80 years.
Mr. Kurzi said there were many expectations for the week of March 23 and that large doses of vaccination were expected.
“We are planning to open a clinic in Vaughan, a Markham clinic. We want to transform the clinic into a new market supermarket. Wonderland, Canada will open on April 1,” he said.
For the first time in a year, Kuruji said something other than the virus had spread to the York region. “This hope is really contagious.”
