Orange County Report reported 114 new cases and 11 new deaths as of March 18 – Orange County Register
The· OC Healthcare Agency 114 new cases of coronavirus were reported on Thursday, March 18, bringing the total number of cases to 249,181.
An estimated 1,809 viruses have been recorded in Orange County in the last 14 days. This is a 95.8% decrease from the December 31 high of 42,790.
Eleven new deaths were added to the record on Wednesday, increasing the total number of COVID-19 deaths in the county to 4,522.
Data on deaths in the county may be edited from death certificates or collected during the case investigation process and may take several weeks to process. The latest reported death occurred on March 4.
The county also reported 213 cases at a local hospital, an increase of 14 cases from the previous day. There were 49 patients listed in the intensive care unit on Wednesday.
According to the county’s latest information, coronavirus testing has been performed 3,213,470 times since it was first launched in the field, and at least 11,880 new tests have been performed since the last report.
Of the cumulative 4,522 deaths reported by the virus, 1,028 were listed as residents of skilled care facilities, 497 as life support facilities, one as an OC prison inmate, and 10 as homeless.
The breakdown of deaths by age in the county is as follows:
- 17 years old or younger: 0.02% (1)
- 18-24: 0.20% (9)
- 25-34: 0.98% (44)
- 35-44: 2.17% (98)
- 45-54: 6.27% (283)
- 55-64: 13.88% (626)
- 65-74: 19.33% (872)
- 75-84: 24.74% (1,116)
- 85 years and over: 32.41% (1,462)
It is estimated that 240,465 people have recovered from the virus as of Thursday. The number of people who have recovered is based on the cumulative number of cases over the last 28 days.
Authorities emphasize that the data posted daily is tentative and subject to change. More information may be available once individual case studies are completed.
