Saddleback, a British retailer that sells brands such as Castelli, Chris King, Sportful and Silca, has gone into administration after 22 years in business.

Escape Collective has learned that employees were told on Friday 29 May 2026 that the company was going into administration and that approximately 42 employees had been made redundant with immediate effect. The website appears to be closed as of today (Monday 1 June 2026).

The Business Desk, which first reported the company’s difficulties, said talks with banks, alternative lenders and key suppliers had failed to secure the refinancing needed to keep Saddleback operating. However, entering administration does not necessarily mean the business ends. Administrators could rescue the company or sell it, allowing some or all of Saddleback’s operations to continue under new ownership. But for now, trading has been halted and staff have been made redundant.

The collapse follows the loss of two of Saddleback’s biggest distribution contracts, with Cannondale returning to parent company Pon.Bike’s direct dealer model in March 2026 and Enve ending its relationship with the distributor a month ago, moving UK services to its European partner in Paris. Meanwhile, the company also added a new brand to its portfolio, with the announcement of Princeton Carbonworks the week after Cannondale’s departure.
