Former Minister General of Defense (retired) Ryamizard Ryacudu died on Sunday (31/5). Ryamizard was then buried at TMP Kalibata, after being buried at the Ministry of Defense on Monday (1/6). A full military ceremony was held, marking the departure of the former Chief of Army Staff.

The 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) expressed his condolences for the death of former Minister of Defense (Menhan) General TNI (retired) Ryamizard Ryacudu. Ryamizard served as defense minister under the Jokowi-Ma’ruf Amin government.
“He (Ryamizard) was a simple, firm and courageous minister. We express our condolences for the death of (retired) TNI General Ryamizard Ryacudu,” Jokowi said at his residence, Monday (1/6).
He also prayed that the deeds of the deceased would be accepted by Him and their sins would be forgiven. Then, the family left behind receives sincerity and patience.
“I hope that his actions will be accepted by Him and his sins will be forgiven. And the families left behind will receive sincerity and patience,” Jokowi said.
Interior Minister Tito expresses sincere condolences on the death of Ryamizard Ryacudu
Minister of Interior Muhammad Tito Karnavian expressed sincere condolences over the death of former Minister of Defense (Menhan) Ryamizard Ryacudu.
Tito paid his respects at the deceased’s residence at the Puri Wira Bhakti Complex, Cikeas, Bogor, West Java, on Sunday (31/5), to convey his condolences to the deceased’s wife, Nora Tristyana, and the family left behind.
“Innalillahi wainna ilaihi rojiun. We are all in mourning. I too personally, together with my family and the Ministry of Interior (Kemendagri), express our deepest condolences for the death of the late TNI General Ryamizard Ryacudu….I knew the deceased quite well as an elderly person and had great respect for him,” Tito said.
He said the deceased was a respected figure and had close ties to various groups, including people in the South Sumatra region. Tito felt that Ryamizard’s departure was a great loss for his family, friends and the various people who had known and worked with the deceased.
“He is one of the elders of South Sumatra, both South Sumatra and Lampung. I come from Palembang, South Sumatra, so I often face him, not only regarding homework, but also the affairs of our village in South Sumatra,” said Tito.
Defense Minister Sjafrie remembers the figure of Ryamizard Ryacudu as an exemplary soldier
Minister of Defense (Menhan) Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin recalled the figure of General (retired) TNI Ryamizard Ryacudu as an exemplary soldier who dedicated his life to the country without ever demanding remuneration. With this experience, Sjafrie believes that there has never been a change in Ryamizard’s devotion and devotion to the nation and the state.
“We just buried a soldier who did not demand compensation for his services. He was a soldier from the youngest to the oldest and continued to work in the field,” Sjafrie told reporters after the funeral at the Heroes’ Cemetery, Kalibata, South Jakarta, Monday (1/6).
According to Sjafrie, the deceased was a role model for soldiers because he always demonstrated integrity while on duty. Ryamizard, he said, is also known to hate various actions that violate the rules.
“He is an example to his soldiers and he doesn’t like all illegal actions either. So this is an example for the TNI Army soldiers and the TNI soldiers must be an example for all of us,” he said.
