Live updates: Iran targets Kuwait, Bahrain as US carries out new strikes in latest test of peace talks

The United Arab Emirates has called for a unified response from Gulf countries to Iran’s ongoing attacks.

On Wednesday morning, Iranian missiles and drones targeted Bahrain and Kuwait, in response, according to Tehran, to American strikes against coastal installations in Iran.

An Iranian strike targeting Kuwait killed one person and injured others at the country’s international airport, according to the Kuwaiti Foreign Ministry. The video shows extensive damage inside a passenger terminal.

The UAE Foreign Ministry said it “strongly condemns the Iranian terrorist attacks that targeted Bahrain.”

“In light of repeated Iranian aggressions” against Bahrain and Kuwait, “there must be a firm, unified and coherent position in the Gulf,” said Anwar Gargash, adviser to the UAE presidency.

“No Gulf state should be left alone to face targets, because the security of the Arab Gulf states is interconnected, their interests are shared and their fate is the same,” Gargash said in an article on X.

The UAE has consistently advocated for a stronger collective response from Gulf Cooperation Council members to continued Iranian attacks.

Qatar’s Foreign Ministry affirmed the Emirate’s “total rejection of targeting civilian objects and vital installations” and said the region must be spared “the consequences of unjustified attacks.”
