UNC Charlotte students test positive for the Omicron variant in Mecklenburg County, public health officials say
Mecklenburg County, NC (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) – The Mecklenburg County Public Health Service announced on Friday that UNC Charlotte students were found to be positive for the Omicron variant.
Positive cases were identified through a university sequencing program. According to UNC Charlotte, students who tested positive for the variant went out of state during the Thanksgiving break.
Students were isolated and recovered, public health officials said Friday. They said exposure was limited to only one known contact.
“The best way to prevent COVID-19 is to be vaccinated, wear a mask indoors and wash your hands frequently,” the Mecklenberg County Public Health Service said in a statement.
