Massachusetts day camp resumes daycare as the virus fades

The Massachusetts Department of Public Health reported on Saturday that 575 new cases of coronavirus had killed 55 people.

The Providence Journal farewelled only 10 loved ones when Gircal Darone was buried next to Bill, the state’s oldest Marine, on Tuesday due to a pandemic.
Jill Cardarone recorded their lives in the book “Bill and Jill from the Federal Hill”. She was a gardener and real estate agent. Her husband worked in World War II and South Korea.
Their youngest child, Ron, 72, told the Providence Journal that statistics from the pandemic do not tell the full story.
“My father and mother were more than just numbers,” he said.

Maine
Maine ferry service passenger numbers have fallen by more than 50% since the state confirmed the first case of the virus in March.
Ferry service representatives also expect passenger numbers to drop during most of the summer, usually the busiest time of the year. Passenger traffic dropped 57% and vehicle traffic dropped 33% on anniversary weekends.
“That’s the reality. It’s in the middle of a pandemic,” Mark Higgins, ferry service manager in Maine, told Bangor Daily News.
The decline in revenues is offset by the $2 million in federal funding recently received by the service through the CARS Act, according to authorities.
The Maine Centers for Disease Control reported on Saturday that 42 people were positive for coronavirus but no more deaths were reported.

New Hampshire
New Hampshire is expanding street pickups at state liquor stores during a pandemic.
The curbside and over-the-counter pickup program began last month at the Hampton Store at Interstate 95 North and Interstate 93 North Store at Hookset. This week it will be expanded to stores going south of these towns and will be available in Pembroke, Manchester and Londonderry from Thursday.
On Saturday, the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services reported four more deaths and 74 new positive coronavirus tests.

Vermont
The town of Brattleboro is taking steps to make it easier for downtown businesses to provide outdoor services during the coronavirus outbreak.
This week’s electoral commission allowed town managers to allocate “florets” to food and beverage businesses, the Brattleboro Reformers reported. Parklet is a space traditionally used for outdoor seating parking lots.
The Board has approved the purchase of barriers and the setting of as many as 12 such areas. In addition, the town clerk is now authorized to issue an outdoor alcohol consumption permit, which was previously handled by the board.
