IIT Bombay passouts develop artificial intelligence-enabled Arvi scanners
Health-tech start-up by the name Arvi has launched contactless thermal scanning kiosks in the midst of the coronavirus. Arvi kiosks use artificial intelligence combined with deep learning to merge facial recognition and thermal screening to detect people with high temperatures.
Ever since the coronavirus outbreak hit the country, social distancing has become a pivotal part of our lives with people using multiple contactless products in order to safeguard themselves. The thermal scanning kiosks have specifications such as temperature checks, face mask detection, auto hand-sanitization, and attendance/access management. These advanced kiosks are also capable of screening blood oxygen, pulse, and respiration rate in addition to temperature.
Even though the kiosks are similar to the temperature gun, the basic difference lies in the fact that a temperature gun requires the physical presence of a security guard or an individual to note down people’s temperature. The kiosks, on the other hand, require no human observation. This artificial intelligence-enabled Arvi scanners are therefore the need of the hour and can be used at various places like malls, banks, airports, schools, hospitals, etc.
These kiosks have been founded by a team of IIT Bombay engineers. These newly introduced products include four models namely, Arvi TX 55, TX 66, TX 77 and TX 99 models that come with a wide range of features. These thermal scanners range from Rs. 60,000 to Rs 1.25 lakhs.
As per sources, the temperature sensor has an accuracy of +/-0.2C. The operation range is between 15-42 C and screening time is 1 second. The face recognition specification comes with 8′ LCD screen, a 5 MP camera with 30 FPS video and advanced facial recognition software. The screening lock is simple and feasible. Cloud storage of up to 2 million screening records is available. Aerosol based sanitizer spray with a high 1200 ml capacity refillable tank is featured with these kiosks. The kiosks are portable with 5 feet 2-inch adjustable height. Keeping the current pandemic in mind, these have been developed at an opportune time to help the people to detect the virus effectively.
