A 4.3-magnitude earthquake hits Korea District in Chhattisgarh, no injuries reported

A moderate earthquake of 4.3 magnitude hit some parts of Koreatown in North Chhattisgarh on Monday morning, officials said. They added that there were no reports so far of human or material losses.

The district of Korea is located about 300 km from the state capital Raipur. “People felt a 4.3-magnitude earthquake in an area around Baikunthpur, the headquarters of Korea district adjacent to Madhya Pradesh, at 8.10 am. Meteorologist Akshaya Mohan Bhatt in Ambikapur said the epicenter was 16 kilometers from Baikunthpur in a west-north direction.

He pointed out that it was a moderate earthquake that does not cause great damage, but it may damage the “Kcha” houses. So far, he said, there have been no reports of loss of life or damage to property. According to the local administration, officials have been instructed to carefully monitor the situation and report any damage caused by the seismic activity.
