Coronavirus: Third Outbreak at West Yorkshire Bed Factory
Mobile test unit installed on Highgrove Beds site
In the bed factory, eight workers tested positive for coronavirus. This is the third in a series of outbreaks in a similar location in West Yorkshire.
As a safety measure, Liversedge’s Highgrove Beds have been discontinued and all staff have been tested.
The outbreak occurred last month in Osset’s Deep Sleep Bed and Batley’s Dura Bed.
Coronavirus cases have also been reported at two meat factories in West Yorkshire.
Last week, the Highgrove Beds were tested by the Kirkleys Council and “provided high standards of infection control procedures and practices.”
In a joint statement, the company, the council, and the British Public Health Service said the risk to the local population from the outbreak was very low.
Earlier this month, four workers in a deep sleep bed tested positive for Covid-19.
On July 1, it was revealed that eight staff at Dura Beds were infected with the virus.
This is because Forza Foods in Normanton reported 17 positive cases.
Last month, 165 staff working at the Kovar factory in Cleckheaton were confirmed to be virus positive.
