WHO announces development of consolidated guidelines on prevention and care of sexually transmitted infections (2022-2023)
WHO membership Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Guideline Development Group Consolidated guidelines on the prevention and care of sexually transmitted infections.
The guidelines are being developed step by step and include primary prevention, asymptomatic STI management including screening strategies for populations at increased risk, updated treatment recommendations for specific STIs, partner management, monitoring and evaluation, and service delivery. We plan to provide recommendations on various topics such as: . To ensure comprehensive coverage, previously developed guidelines for the management of symptomatic sexually transmitted infections, including specific STD treatments, syphilis screening and treatment for pregnant women, and symptomatic approaches (2021). The Global STI Program of the Global HIV, Hepatitis and STIs Program Division is organizing a series of virtual meetings to support the development of these guidelines.
