Test finds 10 coronavirus cases in Wyoming Prison
Rawlins, Wyoming (AP)-A test of prisoners, staff, and health workers at Wyoming’s largest security prison detected at least 10 cases of coronavirus, the amendment authorities said Wednesday.
Wyoming belongs to only two states and no prisoner is aware of the coronavirus. Previous tests have revealed that three prisoners, one staff member, and six health workers have the virus.
As of Wednesday, 876 inmates and workers in Wyoming State Prison were inspected. Full results were pending.
The test was part of a plan to screen all inmates in Wyoming over the next few weeks. Last week, a case of a coronavirus in a contract health worker urged the department to begin testing at Wyoming State Prison a few weeks earlier than planned.
The prison was imprisoned on its own due to positive results and contact tracking.
In Wyoming on Wednesday, there were more than 540 reported cases of coronavirus in action, up from about 150 in early June. 25 people died.
Worldwide, the number of infectious diseases is believed to be much higher than reported. This is because many people have not been tested and research suggests that they can get infected without feeling sick.
