Democrats seek response from US ambassador after reports he asked Brazil favor to help Trump in 2020
Panel Democrats are urging Chapman to state in writing whether the comments are true, and back up his claim with documents about his conversations with Brazilian officials, to reassure Congress that he really represents the interests of the United States and not those narrow, political interests of President Trump.
A State Department spokesman did not immediately respond to an email request for comment.
