Fashion Exchange celebrates its second anniversary and promotes local shopping
WEIRTON, West Virginia The Fashion Exchange celebrates its second anniversary, highlighting its success and emphasizing the importance of shopping at small businesses.
On July 18, 2022, Kelly Jeffers opened her boutique in Weirton, explaining that it was her passion.
“It’s incredibly important to support small businesses in our community. Most businesses are single-owner or family-owned, and people have put their blood, sweat and tears – everything they have into their business to give back to the community,” said Fashion Exchange owner Kelly Jeffers.
Small business owners and employees often interact directly with customers, which has become a staple of the Fashion Exchange.
“It’s one of those places where you walk in and you feel like you know Kelly, she knows you. So it’s also really important to know who you’re buying from and to be able to tell them what you like,” Kelle Martin said. “When you can find really good quality stuff in a cool place where someone knows you, it makes everything better in the community, I think.”
Jeffers says she takes pride in her shop, putting in the most thoughtful details, from the decor to the products she sells.
“You can really feel the creativity of that person, the essence of that person, the hard work that they put in. When you start a business, you really put your heart into it. It’s your creativity, it’s your ideas that you work on, it’s your presentation to your clients,” Jeffers explained.
Because small business owners are often passionate about their work, she says creativity and innovation help build a sustainable business.
“I think small businesses just help make the community better,” Martin said.
If you want to discover the small business, it is open from Tuesday to Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
