Five Kutztown Field Hockey Team Players Named to NFHCA DII Watchlist
KUTZTOWN, Pennsylvania. Five athletes from the 2023 Field Hockey National Champion Kutztown University team have been named to the 2024 National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II Watchlist. The announcement, made Thursday afternoon, recognizes Juliana Donato (Cedarville, NJ/Schalick), Sarah Gatehouse (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson), Erin Gonzalez (East Earl, PA/Garden Spot), Grace Harrold (York, Pennsylvania/Central York)And Danielle Panati (West Chester, PA/Unionville).
These standout athletes join a talented group of 48 student-athletes from 18 Division II institutions, showcasing who has the most potential to be considered for the NFHCA All-Region and All-American teams.
To be nominated for the 2024 NFHCA Watchlist, student-athletes must have demonstrated outstanding field hockey skills within the past two years.
Senior midfielder Juliana Donato (Cedarville, NJ/Schalick)a standout from the 2023 season, finishing with three goals and a career-high 11 assists for 17 points. Her exceptional performance earned her NFHCA First Team All-American honors and she has also been selected to the All-PSAC twice.
Graduated student Sarah Gatehouse (Sinking Spring, PA/Wilson)Recognized as the 2023 PSAC Defensive Athlete of the Year, Gatehouse had an impressive season with seven goals and five assists for 19 points. An NFHCA First Team All-American and multiple award winner, Gatehouse excelled on the court and academically.
Junior attacker Erin Gonzalez (East Earl, PA/Garden Spot) impressed with eight goals and three assists for a total of 19 points in the 2023 season. The East Earl, Pa. native started 21 games and was honored with a spot on the All-PSAC Third Team for her outstanding contributions.
Junior midfielder Grace Harrold (York, Pennsylvania/Central York) played in all 22 games, contributing two goals and two assists for six points. Her consistent performances earned her a spot on the All-PSAC Third Team and highlighted her crucial role in Kutztown's midfield.
Senior defender Danielle Panati (West Chester, PA/Unionville) was a key player in all 22 games for Kutztown, earning All-PSAC Third Team recognition. She led the PSAC with four defensive saves and played a crucial role in securing fourteen shutouts for the team.
Kutztown's impressive showing with five athletes on the 2024 NFHCA Division II Watchlist means the university has an equal number of athletes represented.
The reigning national champions will play their home game against Saint Anselm next Thursday, September 5, at 3:00 PM at Andre Reed Stadium.
