The Director General of the Ethiopian Geological Institute told the Ethiopian News Agency that what was circulated in the media regarding the exposure of the Renaissance Dam to the danger of earthquakes is a completely fabricated report.

The Director-General stressed that there is no study showing that earthquakes that occur in the Rift Valley region can occur in other regions.

The Renaissance Dam is located several kilometers from the Rift Valley, and he stated that during the construction of the project, a comprehensive study was conducted to assess the potential risks of earthquakes and other geological events.

Ijara noted that the results of the study also indicate that the Renaissance Dam is not at risk from earthquakes and is located in a better location.
