Covid-19: 9 deaths in hospitals in Craigavon and Daisy Hill
A total of nine patients died after the coronavirus outbreaks in two Southern Trust hospitals.
Trust today confirmed that two patients connected to Hematology Ward at Craiigavon Area Hospital died after being Covid-19 positive, In addition to the previously announced four deaths..
Three positive-tested patients in the men’s medical ward at Daisy Hill Hospital also died.
Across the two sites, 34 staff were positive and an additional 112 were self-isolated.
In a statement released today, Southern Trust said, “The total number of patients connected to the blood ward of Craiigavon Area Hospital and who tested positive remains at 14. Sadly, they were positively diagnosed with Covid-19. Six patients have died. “
According to the Trust, 23 staff members of Craigavon have tested positive, and an additional 45 staff members have self-isolated potential contact with infected individuals.
At Daisy Hill, 11 patients and 21 staff members tested positive for Covid-19, and an additional 67 staff members were self-isolating.
The two staff members who tested positive are connected to the Daisy Hill theater. Due to the impact on staffing, some elective surgery lists will be postponed early next week.
