A 5.7-magnitude earthquake that struck southwest Iceland was captured in front of the camera when the country’s Prime Minister Catherine Jacobsdottir was in a live interview with The Washington Post. However, it was the prime minister’s reaction that sparked a wave of reactions on social media.

“Oh my God, there is an earthquake,” Jacobsdottir said during an interview with David Ignatius, a foreign affairs columnist for the Washington Post about the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on tourism and how the county has planned to confront it. Although Jacobsdottir was visibly stunned by the tremors, she remained seated and quickly resumed the interview saying, “Well, this is Iceland.”
