The Korean forensic team found no link between influenza vaccination and the death of a boy: media
Seoul (Reuters)-A South Korean forensic agency did not find a link between the death of a 17-year-old boy and the flu shot he took, Yonhap news agency reported. At least 25 people.
The boy was first reported to have died as part of a government campaign to vaccinate approximately 30 million of the 52 million population to prevent coronavirus complications. Tolls have risen to 25 over the past week, and doctors and politicians are calling for the program to be cancelled.
Health officials refused to suspend the campaign on Thursday because there was no evidence to suggest a direct link between death and the vaccine.
According to Yonhap News Agency, Yonhap News Agency has performed autopsies of some deceased people as part of a government investigation, and determined that the death of a 17-year-old boy had nothing to do with the vaccine.
Both forensic institutions and police were unable to get immediate comments.
According to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA), 22 of the 25 cases, including boys, were vaccinated against influenza by the government for about 19 million teens and the elderly free of charge. At least 7 of the 9 people surveyed had an underlying condition.
Vaccine providers include GC Pharma, SK Bioscience, Korea Vaccine and Boryung Pharm Co. Ltd. Includes domestic companies such as Boryung Biopharma Co. Ltd., a division of the company, and Sanofi, France. They offer both free programs and paid services.
Ten received products from SK Bioscience, five from Boryung and GC Pharma, four from Sanofi, and one from Korea Vaccine.
It was not immediately clear whether Korean-made vaccines were exported or whether Sanofi-supplied vaccines were being used elsewhere.
Sanofi did not respond to requests for comment, but all four companies in the country declined to comment.
South Korea has ordered an increase in influenza vaccines by 20% this year to prevent what is called an “epidemic” in which influenza and COVID-19 occur simultaneously in the winter.
KDCA reported 155 new cases as of midnight Thursday, significantly below 100 in the last two weeks, and then recorded a three-digit increase in daily aggregates for the second straight day. The total number of infections was 25,698 and 455 died.
According to KDCA, 8.3 million people have been vaccinated and about 350 side effects have been reported since the program started on October 13.
