15 members of the North Texas family get COVID-19 after a small birthday party
Arlington, Texas (KXAN) — The November 1st birthday party has a long-term impact on one family in Arlington.
Alexa Aragonez, 26 years old, Tell Fort Worth Star-Telegram Her family discussed their concerns before the party and determined that they were careful enough.
She didn’t attend, but dropped her 57-year-old mother to the party. The party included 11 guests, including a pregnant cousin and four children.
A few days later, Alexa’s mom, Enriqueta, began to feel sick and was tested and tested positive for the coronavirus. Eventually, all 12 party guests tested positive.
Enriqueta’s case was the most serious: she spent a week and a day in the hospital. Other families experienced mild symptoms, but some children had a strong cough.
“It’s scary to think about what would happen if my whole family were seriously ill and all 15 had to go to the hospital,” Alexa said. Told Fort Worth Star Telegram.. “One is guilty about robbing people who really need it, and the other is the risk of losing the whole family.”
Alexa was negative on the test, but three people who weren’t attending the party were also infected because of the guest attendance.
Her family does not believe that family gatherings are risky and says she is tired of not meeting each other on a regular basis as usual.
