Drugs that block puberty – children “are unlikely to be given informed consent” – BBC News

 



The English High Court has ruled that children under the age of 16 who say they want to change their gender are unlikely to be granted informed consent to treatment with drugs that block puberty. The case was brought up by a young woman, who regretted her decision to take treatment and argued that a court order was needed to take the children’s medication. Proponents of transgender people have criticized the decision and say the only NHS clinic that has offered treatment to children will appeal the ruling.
