One in four drinkers believe that alcohol consumption needs to be reduced prior to dry January
A new study found that more than one in four British drinkers feel that alcohol intake should be reduced.
A poll of more than 4,000 adults found that 31% believed they were drinking at an increased or “high risk” level.
Drinkaware, an alcohol-raising charity that conducted the survey, said one-fifth of its participants claimed to participate in Dry January, a campaign aimed at reducing consumption after vacations.
Others have stated that they intend to have “drink-free” days during the week.
Dr. Sarah Jarvis, a drinking-conscious medical adviser, said people who stopped or reduced consumption may be “happy and surprised” by the short- and medium-term effects.
