On April 1, 2020, an ambulance is located outside the emergency room at the UW Medical Center.

This change was rolled out at 8am on April 13th and is aimed at keeping healthcare workers and other patients safe because people can carry the virus without symptoms. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, symptoms such as fever, cough, and shortness of breath may appear 2 to 14 days after exposure.

Bryon-Cahn added that he predicts that “the proportion of people infected will be very low.”
The test is completed with a nasal swab, UW Virology LabIt plays a major role in enabling this shift in coronavirus testing. Lab tested above 63,000 patients Sunday since the beginning of March. Provide results to patients within 6-24 hours.
