I knew how to escape from a fleeing family

Tara Westover’s father did not trust the government. Actually, he believed they had infiltrated the Illuminati. He was alive, he believed the end of the world was immediate. Legally speaking, it didn’t exist until nine years ago. And he didn’t step up in a classroom until he was 17. At 27, however, he had a Cambridge doctorate.

The 31-year-old wrote a memoir on Education as a Surviving Daughter and how the path to education led to a division of Idaho’s religious college, Harvard and eventually Cambridge, into her and her family.
